Russia Accused of War Crimes Amid Cargo Vessel Attacks

Publisert

Human Rights at Sea (HRAS) has accused Russia of committing war crimes in Ukraine and called on the international community to hold the country accountable, as foreign cargo vessels that have been trapped at Ukrainian ports since Russia attacked Ukraine continue to come under fire.

As a result of Russia’s assault, one crewmember has died, and a Dominican Republic containership has sank.

Human Rights at Sea stated, “War crimes are not only the indiscriminate attack against civilians but the indiscriminate attacks against civilian objects and civilian infrastructure. International law regulating the conduct of hostilities explicitly prohibits attacks against merchant vessels flying the flag of neutral to the war states.”
