Singapore Investigation Finds Tainted Fuel Distributed

Publisert

An investigation conducted by Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) has revealed that last month approximately 200 vessels were sold bunker fuel contaminated with high levels of COC (chlorinated organic compounds).

Reportedly, the fuel was blended and supplied by Glencore Singapore Pte Ltd, a petroleum company based in Singapore. Glencore alerted the MPA to the issue as they began receiving complaints, but much of the fuel in question had already been distributed.

The MPA stated, “As a major bunkering hub, MPA takes bunker quality assurance seriously and will not hesitate to take necessary actions against relevant parties if they have failed to comply with MPA’s bunker license conditions or other applicable regulations.”
