Police raid offices of Erck Rickmers Group in demolition probe
Recycling of three container ships in Pakistan being investigated by German police.
Police have raided the offices of Erck Rickmers Group-controlled companies in a vessel recycling probe, German newspaper Bild reports.
The newspaper said officers of the State Office of Criminal Investigation visited work premises and personal properties in Hamburg at 10:00 GMT yesterday.
The investigation centres on alleged illegal scrapping of vessels in Pakistan in August and September 2017.
Erck Rickmers Group said in a statement: “The Erck Rickmers Group welcomes it when violations of environmental regulations are clarified. It is not aware of any violation and is cooperating fully with the investigating authorities.”
