At the Naval Day parade on July 25 in St. Petersburg, Russia, Putin used the ceremony to show the Russian military’s advanced armaments, namely the country’s hypersonic nuclear missiles.

Russian President Vladimir Putin made the statement, “Today the Russian navy has everything it needs to defend our homeland, our national interests,” Putin continued, “We can locate any enemy, whether they’re on, under or above the water. And if required, deal them an unavoidable strike.”

About 50 vessels and 4,000 personnel participated in the military’s parade which took place prior to the Navy’s 325th anniversary in upcoming October.  For the first time ever, a Nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine was presented, as well destroyers, submarines, and other assault vessels, were all unveiled during the show. As Russia grapples with a new surge of Covid-19 cases due to the delta variant, no spectators were allowed to attend the event.
