Viasat Acquires Rival Inmarsat in $7.3 Billion Deal
On November 8 Viasat acquired London-based Inmarsat for an estimated $7.3 billion deal which included cash of approximately $850 million, Nasdaq shares of an estimated $3.1 billion and even debt from Inmarsat of $3.4 billion.
Through this deal the vision of Viasat is to expand the reach of their services through both their satellite and land communication capabilities.
Rajeev Suri, Inmarsat’s Chief Executive said, “Joining with Viasat is the right combination for Inmarsat at the right time.”
