Sinokor wins ExxonMobil aframax charters
South Korea’s Sinokor Merchant Marine to order four vessels from STX Offshore & Shipbuilding after securing long-term charters from ExxonMobil.
Sinokor is set to order four aframaxes from STX Offshore and Shipbuilding after it won a long-term charter from energy major, ExxonMobil.
Brokers told TradeWinds the shipowner won a deal to allocate between two and four 109,000-dwt newbuildings to the oil giant.
Delivery of the new vessels will begin in 2023 and will constitute a major boost to STX after recent restructuring.
Operations at the yard have fluctuated in recent years after persistent financial woes, but have revived after a consortium took over the company earlier this year.
