Deadly attack on Shell facility in Nigeria
Seven killed in attack on convoy transporting workers to oil and gas project.
A deadly attack on a convoy carrying workers to a Shell facility in the southeast of Nigeria has killed seven people.
Police say no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the area has been beset by violence since the beginning of the year, with authorities blaming the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Imo state police spokesman Michael Abatan told AFP News that “We lost one policeman and six oil workers in the attack by the gunmen.” He also said an investigation was under way “to arrest the gunmen and determine the motive for the attack”.
