Record fleet expansion for Seaspan
One of the world’s largest suppliers of tonnage, Seaspan, has gone on a shopping spree in the first quarter of 2021, expanding its fleet with 36 new container vessels.
Seaspan has expanded its fleet vigorously in 2021, by buying 32 newbuildings and four second-hand vessels. The company supplies tonnage to several container companies, including Maersk, Cosco, and CMA CGM.
The company’s fleet now comprises 168 container vessels, amounting to approximately 1.67m teu, and typically charters the vessels out on long-term contracts to container carriers.
For the entire year, Atlas Corp. expects Seaspan to generate USD 1,325-1,355 million in revenue and an adjusted EBITDA operating profit in the range of USD 839-874 million.
