Poisonous Gas Kills Sailors on Ship

A cargo ship named Global Lake, belonging to Istanbul based Akar group and sailing under a Liberian flag had a very unfortunate event as the ship was sailing off the coast of Spain.

Reported by the Turkish Embassy in Madrid, on August 25, during technical work on a tank on the ship, a gas leak took place. Three sailors are reported to have died from the poisoning including the ships captain.

There is an additional sailor who is in serious condition and currently in the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing into the incident.
