Golar LNG and Hygo Energy Transition have been acquired by New Fortress Energy in a deal worth $5 billion. New Fortress Energy paid $2.1 billion for Hygo and $235 million for Golar, with the remainder being made up of debts carried by the two companies.
A specialist in the transportation of LNG, Hygo, was until recently known as Golar Power and is a joint venture between Golar LNG and fund Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners. The company has been in the headlines of late after its CEO was accused of taking bribes during his time working at rig operator Seadrill.
Hygo appointed a new CEO and launched an internal investigation, but after external lawyers and auditors scrutinised contracts, expense reports and other internal material, they found no signs of bribery or other forms of corruption.
