U.S. Navy Confirms 5 Missing Sailors are Dead
Rescue Ends Investigation Continues for U.S. Navy Helicopter Crash
Search and rescue teams have exhausted all resources after searching for 5 missing sailors since August 31 when the MH-60S Knighthawk crashed into sea while operating in routine flight operations aboard the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.
The declaration of the 5 sailors being deceased was announced on Sept 4.
The U.S. 3rd fleet advised they will conceal the names of the service members at least for the next 24hours, until their next-of-kin has been notified.
At this time, officials are still not releasing any statements or explanations as to what occurred before the accident other than the helicopter was operating on the deck before it crashed into the ocean.
An investigation is continuing.
