Family-owned Ringtons Tea has been supplying the North East with the nation’s favourite brew since 1907 and can now boast that they are doing their bit for the climate, by using Port of Tyne’s coastal feeder service, saving thousands of road miles.

The tea is landed at Felixstowe and moved by sea to Port of Tyne where it is processed and warehoused before being distributed throughout the north. By switching from road to sea, the company is able to make a saving of 500 miles as a round trip, adding up to over 100,000 road miles.

Daniel Smith, Head of Brand, and a fifth-generation member of the family business said; “We are a proud North East business working with an expansive group of customers all facilitated by our operations in the North East, with our local port allowing us to be more cost-efficient and also better for the environment…”
