Pirate Attack Attempt Aboard MSC Container Ship

MSC Ship Avoids Pirate Attack Near Nigeria
A pirate attack was attempted and foiled on October 25 aboard the Panama-flagged MSC Lucia container ship traveling near Nigeria in the Gulf of Guinea.
Reports state attackers boarded the vessel but not before the container ship was able to send out a call for help.
The Russian Navy quickly deployed ships and a helicopter to the area.
When the attackers took note of the incoming helicopter, they departed the ship.
The 1985-built 1,951 TEU vessel was then taken under escort by the Russian Naval Group and en route to the scheduled port of Douala in Cameroon.
