Nigeria’s Auditor-General has raised questions via the SCPA, concerning N87bn allocated for construction works at the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, reports Dryad Global. The fate of the money is now being examined by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Invitations to explain the unexecuted contracts extended to the NIMASA by the SCPA in 2015 have not been responded to, and now a panel, led by Senator Uhroghide, has resolved to sustain the query which is due for presentation to the Senate.

The official query stated: “Project inspection visits undertaken by staff were generally misleading, as the reports submitted were not a true reflection of the activities on ground… It was gathered that some of the staff collude with the contractors to submit false progress reports on the project.”
