Straits Orient Lines buys another pair of containerships in $11m deal
Latest purchase brings number of additions to fleet to four this year for Singaporean owner.
Straits Orient Lines (SOL) has bought another pair of containerships, bringing its vessel purchases for the year to four. The company signed the $11m deal with South Korea’s Heung-A Line.
SOL said it acquired the 653-teu sister ships for $5.5m each, bringing the expanding company’s fleet to 14 owned vessels with a total operating capacity of 19,622-teu.
The Heung-A Jakarta and Heung-A Manila were originally built for Pan Ocean and spent their entire operating lives under the control of Heung-A.
Singapore-based SOL’s last purchases were the 1,702-teu Max Kudo and the 1,155-teu Asiatic Dawn, for a combined price of $15m.
