Major U.S. Oil Port Halts Deliveries Due to Hurricane

Offentliggjort

In order to prepare for the incoming storm, the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port (LOOP), temporarily halted deliveries after receiving notice of probable issues to its direct operations.

Being that LOOP is the largest U.S. privately owned crude terminal, located 29km off shore of Louisiana and is the only deep water terminal with the capacity to offload super tankers, this shut down will have greater impacts.  LOOP services 90% of the deep water oil production in the Gulf of Mexico.

About 1.74 million barrels per day, approximately 95% of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico oil production was reportedly suspended as of Sunday.
