Kawasaki Heavy Introduces World’s First Hydrogen Tanker
Hydrogen Tanker by Kawasaki Heavy Takes Voyage
Japanese-based Kawasaki Heavy has now introduced the world to its first ever liquified hydrogen carrier built to mimic a liquified natural gas (LNG) carrier which both are in efforts to help decarbonization of the industry.
On December 24 the Suiso Frontier departed Japan and is headed to Australia for cargo pick-up before its return in February as a one-way trip for the vessel takes an approximate 2 weeks journey.
The pilot project for the endeavor is backed by the Japanese and Australian governments and is estimated at around $362 million.
