Sinokor adds another dozen at Hyundai Mipo
South Korean owner signs $360m deal with HMD.
Sinokor Merchant Marine has signed a deal for 12 feeder containership newbuildings with compatriot Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD). The $360m deal brings the company’s total spending on newbuildings this year to over $682m.
HMD is expected to deliver the series of 1,800-teu vessels in 2022 and 2023. Sinokor is expected to be paying between $28m and $30m apiece for the Bangkomax newbuildings.
The company is also due to take delivery of four 1,080-teu boxship newbuildings from China’s Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard and six LNG-fuelled aframax tankers from Samsung Heavy Industries.
