World Tankers Management refutes oil heist accusation
Singaporean ship manager says vessel wrongly charged with stealing cargo.
World Tankers Management has denied accusations that the crew of its 47,100-dwt Strovolos was involved in an oil heist.
The Strovolos was detained in Indonesian waters earlier today, allegedly after stealing 300,000 barrels of oil which belonged to the tanker’s former charterers.
“The vessel has been wrongly charged with stealing the cargo,” World Tankers Management said. “It is not and has never at any time been our intention to misappropriate the cargo.”
