Port Houston Receives $142.5m Award for Channel Improvement
Channel Widening and Deepening Project to Occur for Houston
Port Houston in Texas received an award of construction funding in the amount of $142.5 million to help with the deepening and widening project of the shipping channel to allow the capacity to handle larger container vessels.
The portion of federal funding awarded to them comes from the US Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) FY22 which is a plan to be used for infrastructure investments.
“With this funding, we are one step closer to building a better port for the next generation of Texans and Americans,” stated Port Houston Commission Chairman Ric Campo.
