The 106,000-dwt aframax, Winsome, has been missing for more than a month after loading a $30m cargo of crude oil in Oman. The 2000-built vessel issued an AIS signal on 5th July as it departed Sohar, but then stopped transmitting.

Winsome was bound for China with 30 crew aboard and indicated it was heading east at the time of its last transmission, but did not give a destination.

Although it is not unusual for tankers to switch off their AIS in the region, the ship does not appear to have sailed on towards China.

An AIS signal in early August indicated the ship was off Khor Fakkan anchorage but sources told TradeWinds they believe the vessel is anchored off Bandar Abbas, Iran.

The Winsome is owned by single-ship company Lynx Marine and operates under the technical management of Dubai-based ship manager Clara Shipping.
