144 Passengers Rescued from Mackinac Island Ferry
A Mackinac Island ferry lost its ability to steer in the Straits of Mackinac, located in Michigan, United States, on April 5th. The ferry- Huron, was unable to use its anchor and drifted freely until assistance arrived.
The 144 passengers aboard the ferry were safely rescued by a commercial vessel of Mackinac Island who responded to the Huron’s call. The United States Coast Guard also arrived and stood by as the crewmembers of the Huron waited to be towed.
