Maritime Partners to Introduce World’s First Methanol-Fueled Towboat
A world’s first for the maritime industry will be entering the waters for commercial use in 2023 via Maritime Partners as the vessel joins their fleet.
Designed by Elliott Bay Design Group, the Hydrogen One will be the first ever methanol-fueled towboat to be IMO 2030-compliant.
Dave Lee at ABB Marine & Ports stated, “The US towboat market is one of the most traditional in the world, so it’s important to recognize what this represents: the first step in a shift from diesel electric to methanol electric, and a major advancement towards zero emissions.”
