Japanese yard floats out 94m multi-role response vessels (MRRV).
Mitsubishi Shipbuilding has launched the first of two new 94m multi-role response vessels for the Philippine Coast Guard from its Shimonoseki Shipyard.
The vessel is a modified variant of the Kunigami-class patrol vessels in service with the Japanese Coast Guard and will enter service in March 2022, while the second vessel will follow three months later.
It has a maximum speed of 24 knots and a range of over 4,000 nautical miles and can operate under sea-state six.
The MRRV’s primary functions will be maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, and humanitarian and disaster relief.
