Shell puts 10 medium range tankers in Signal Maritime pool
Oil major places 10 tankers into fledgling MR pool.
Signal Maritime has received a shot in the arm after oil major, Shell, placed 10 medium range tankers in its MR pool. The cooperation will aid both companies’ de-carbonisation efforts, the company said, without revealing specific details.
“The two partners have also agreed to investigate further synergies and pooling opportunities in other tanker segments,” Signal said.
Athens-based Signal set the MR pool up earlier this summer and has not disclosed which vessels the deal concerns.
“The MR pool has been a natural expansion step for Signal Maritime, following the successful establishment of the company’s aframax pool, which has been running since 2018,” the company said.
The company has got off to a good start with its tanker management, with an aframax and LR2 pool, with 19 vessels.
