New Safety Rules Aboard Vessels Announced by US Coast Guard
US Coast Guard Imposes Fire Safety Rules for Passenger Vessels
Over the span of the next two years, new fire safety rules have been established for small passenger vessels who are operating on the oceans that contain sleeping quarters.
Owners of those vessels will be required to update their emergency exits to require the ships to have at least two, install smoke detectors, require a watchman at night and other safety training and fire escape drills for crew.
The US Coast Guard advised that these new rules do not affect fishing boats and ferries.
