BOEM could approve Vineyard offshore wind farm
Reports indicate that the Biden administration could likely approve an offshore wind farm off the coast of Massachusetts.

WASHINGTON — The US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is reportedly set to publish a “favorable final environmental review” of a proposed 800-megawatt offshore project, reports Bloomberg News citing sources.
BOEM, an agency within the Department of Interior, said that the release of a favorable report sets the stage for an official authorization in April.
Final approval of Vineyard Wind LLC, the company behind the proposed project, has a value at $2.8 billion planned near Massachusetts’s coast.
BOEM has moved to approved offshore leases that support President Joe Biden’s mission to fight climate change.
Biden signed an executive order in January that mandates a doubling of offshore wind generation in the United States by 2030.
The proposed Vineyard project would reportedly satisfy Biden’s mandate.
The Vineyard project is also a joint venture with Avangrid and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
Projections for potential energy generation indicate that power would be shipped to Massachusetts and would have the capacity to supply power to more than 400,000 homes.
The project is also expected to enter service in late 2023, which matches plans for reaching renewable energy projects in states like Massachusetts, New York, Main, and New Jersey.
