Video: Ro-ro collides with bridge, tearing hole in ballast tank
Cargo ferry, Sixtine, hits Calandburg Bridge while arriving in Rotterdam.
The ro-ro ferry, Sixtine, has collided with a bridge while entering the port of Rotterdam, reports Fleetmon.
The collision ripped a hole in the ship’s starboard ballast tank above the waterline. The damage caused a ballast water leak. Strong gusty winds are though to have caused the accident while the vessel was manoeuvring with the aid of tugs.
The Sixtine is Maltese-flagged, 50,000 dwt, IMO 9831165 and plies the Hull-Rotterdam route. The ship was able to continue to the Port of Rotterdam after the incident.
